Ask HN: How do you research system design paradigms?

1 pointsby sun_harabout 2 years ago
I feel like I often find myself wondering "How do other people do this?" when I need to solve some larger system design question. This usually leads to Google, which usually leads to a bunch of ads. Sorting through this is not the best experience.
Stack Overflow is also sort of subpar for these sorts of questions - as its short form, and frankly just doesn't contain much of the content I'm looking for.
I think I'd love a mostly-correct ChatGPT modeled as a system design expert. The current iteration seems kinda shallow, unless my prompts just suck.
How do other people go about doing this research?
