We are just at the beginning, this is going to get much worse.
Technological Acceleration Anxiety is going to become a real issue. Not tied directly to AI, but will run mostly parallel.
Individuals need islands of stability to plan, reason and enjoy the present. Rapidly shrinking innovation, disruption and adaption cycles are destabilizing.
We had all hoped automation/AI would have removed the rat race of monotonous tasks.
Instead a new rat race of sprinting ahead of the technology curve to remain relevant will become exhausting without extended periods of stabilization.
It is not just jobs, but will be cultural shifts as well that will accelerate. It is an unhealthy rate of societal change leaving individuals desperately in search of meaning.
I've been thinking a lot about the societal impacts of these rapid changes and have collected a lot of thoughts. We are moving faster than we can reason about the changes and impacts. https://dakara.substack.com/p/ai-and-the-end-to-all-things
I'm not sure if I'm in the minority but I can't wait for my job to be obsolete (software dev). Taking cues from Star Trek, if we can finally focus on _what_ instead of _how_, I think we'll have leveled-up as a society.
