I got roasted one time by Don Norman during a presentation (early in my academic career, mind you), and it has proven to be some of the best feedback I've ever received. More Don Normans, please.
The biggest problem with Don Norman appears -- from the article -- to be that he thinks for himself and won't be bullied by the outrage arbiters of the left. Norman came of age in an era when freedom of thought and freedom of speech meant something. An old joke is: "I could tell you [some matter of secrecy], but I would have to kill you." A true statement that many of us could say to the censors is: "I could say that, but I would be lying."<p>My personal affirmation: I have never downvoted <i>anyone</i> on HN.
