At one point in time, typing “H” into Google New Zealand would yield Ian H. Witten (author of Managing Gigabytes) as the first result. His contributions to our field are massive.
University of Waikato also work on a digital library software called Greenstone [1] which uses Managing Gigabytes as its indexing and retrieval system. There’s another, related book called “How to Build a Digital Library” which goes into deep detail about building information management systems.
[1] https://www.greenstone.org/
[2] https://www.nzdl.org/custom/howto2/cgi-bin/library.cgi?a=p&p...
