Ask HN: What's your experience working with CAD etc. software on a 14“ display?

I have a Thinkpad E14 gen2 (amd 3 4300U) with 14" a display (IPS). I acquired it mostly to learn programming, but recently I've tried Blender on it and its fonts may have seemed too small. After a month I may have an option to buy a bit more expensive ThinkPad E15 gen3 (with Intel i5) with a bit less SSD storage, but with a 15" inch display. Though I'd need to sell the E14 Thinkpad first, and it may be sort of a hustle.
I have a large external HDMI monitor though (LG), but am not sure about its flicker rate and resolution.Thinkpad's diplay has almost no flicker.
Do you have acceptable experience working with CAD and similar software on 14" Thinkpad displays?

I've developed a couple of products used "in production" using 13" 10 year old sony vaio! It's definitely doable, but the experience is less than ideal, mostly due to the small screen. I don't think that's something a 15" display would fix though. If I were to do it again, I'd probably look for something around the 24" to 27" range.
Working with CAD on a 13" screen vs. a 15" screen is basically the same experience.
