Ask HN: As a software engineer, how has AI-assisted tooling helped you?

4 pointsby lljk_kennedyabout 2 years ago
ChatGPT, Github Copilot etc... what are the big and small wins that you've discovered using them, or other AI assisted tooling? Are they making you a more "productive" (for your personal definition of productivity) engineer? What tips and tricks have you picked up?

Copilot is capable of writing tedious but useful little functions based on just a comment. GPT can easily write documentation for me, something my ADD would cause me to take forever to do before. GPT has gotten me out of some jams too with templating and misnamed variables for example.

ChatGPT (GPT-4) is pretty excellent at taking react code I write and rewriting it in the format I ask to be more idiomatic or concise!
