The patients who regret laser eye surgery

I recommend get one eye done, then the other a few months later (2nd only if you are happy with results). If you get both done at once, you have no objective way to independently compare whether the results are better than what you already have....
My doctor was pushing me to get both done at once, but I wanted to have a control to compare against, and I am fucking glad I did only one.
With a contact in my left eye, and the Lasiked right eye, the left eye has much better clarity even in day time. The surgery results on the right eye were normal (this situation isn't because the surgery was stuffed up).
The halo effect is due to uneveness/dimples/ripples created, so can never be corrected by lenses. Although perhaps results of surgery may be better on average now (it was a couple of decades ago).
Anyone that has both eyes done at one time cannot make an objective comparison of advantages/disadvantages. Most people you hear from that have done it will be unrealistically positive about a choice they can’t change (psychology). I never got the other eye done, so I can truely say what the benefits and downsides are, whereas most people will give you extremely biased points of view.
It is useful having one eye that doesn't need contacts. But it is also useful having one -6 eye because it makes close-up work easy (I can't use the right Lasik'ed eye for fine detailed work - it can't focus on anything closer than 30cm - like long sighted but actually isn't).
LASIK benefit: no hassle with contacts and risks of irritation, better for water sports, travelling, no ongoing costs.
LASIK downside: much worse night vision (stellation due to irregularities in uniformity of surface - not correctable). Need reading glasses as you age.

LASIK or Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis),
commonly referred to as laser eye surgery or laser vision correction : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK
