Show HN: Amounts 3, an update to my 10 year old iPhone expense tracking app

2 pointsby jclardyabout 2 years ago
Amounts 3 is a complete rewrite of my nearly 10 year old expense tracking iOS app, Amounts. Amounts is a manual personal expense tracker designed to be local first and private - none of your personal data goes to any server other than your own iCloud account, if you enable cloud sync.
The app is completely free to use, but does feature a subscription for more dedicated users (More customization options, better export options.)
I built Amounts as a supplement to other apps like Mint. For me personally, I hate using cash, but also missed the "feeling" of spending money. When using cash you physically see the money going away and becoming less. Swiping a credit card is just too easy, so the idea is to introduce a slight bit of friction by manually inputing transactions right after purchase to make sure you are aware of how much you are spending. It is not an easy habit to get into, and not everyone needs it, but it can pay off if it works for you.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
