Hi HN!
TL;DR: We are launching a Chrome Extension which sends your html pages to our servers for publicly accessible sites like Amazon or Airbnb. We process them and sell the data through MovingLake. After sales are done, we send a chunk of the revenue back to Littlecow contributors using ETH.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/littlecow/gknglaag...
https://github.com/MovingLake/littlecow
After working for a year on MovingLake we have bumped many times with customers requesting public data from marketplace sites such as Amazon and Airbnb. Folks are interested in benchmarking, price analysis, competitive landscape, investment opportunities and so on. We have been reticent to run scrapers / proxies on our infra and so finally came up with the idea of building Littlecow. Crowdsourcing these data is great and we believe is a win / win for users, customers as well as companies hosting these sites.
+ For Users: Getting paid for browsing the internet is amazing! Not sure there's much to say here :). We obviously filter any and all PII we might get from our users. The final result is strictly about publicly accessible data.
+ For Customers: Data from big scrapers has the advantage of having great coverage, but the disadvantage of being stale most of the times. Customers purchasing the data from MovingLake / Littlecow would benefit from getting the most visited items refreshed in real-time.
+ For Hosting Sites: Popular sites get bombarded with scraping jobs running from all over the world. This not ideal at all and causes much unwanted traffic. Littlecow would fix this by sourcing the data organically from users directly when browsing the site.
Well that's it. Please install and contribute to the cause! And hope you'll be getting some tokens your way in appreciation for contributing your web surfing data.
Best,
