what bothers me about k-12 education is that it suggests that it is necessary. i went to hippie boarding school where much of my day was spent outdoors, doing art, taking courses about your feelings, etc. I had two math classes between the ages of 11 and 18. I had one science class. I was basically completely unprepared to enter university yet I was able to get bachelor's through PhD in physics and now work as a scientist. Think if i was told not only do i need to take all these math courses to prepare for university, but that i was black i needed extra help. just the suggestion seems rather offensive and putting a box around the students that limits them. And why are they only for the regular classes but the fun looking classes like the math for video games class doesn't have special help sections for black students? but what do i know? nothing i suppose.
