I'm all for a shorter working week, but this would have a better chance if it was arguing for shorter days rather than another day off. That would be easier for companies to handle and would also be better for parents since they can have some extra time with their kids EVERY day and not just one day.
With the advances in productivity tools, this would seem to make sense for most white collar occupations. It might keep more people employed, but salaries are sure to come down along with it. It’s still a good deal in my opinion—-we only have a limited time to enjoy life.
Just a friendly reminder that in the decades since the 40 hour work week was implemented labor productivity has increased by over 5X, meaning the average person does in a single 8 hour day what society used to consider an honest week's worth of work.
