Working with Time in Postgres

Both 7-14-1789 and 14-07-1789 are suboptimal.<p>Sorting is trivial with 1789&#x2F;07&#x2F;14, so this is my preferred format.<p>Rather than indulge in sort key gymnastics on a text file, I would rearrange prior to sort.
