> With the support of ARDC in partnership with TAPR, we aim to develop an open-source SDR platform with an unparalleled set of radio investigation and experimentation functions in one versatile device. URTI will offer radio amateurs, researchers, educators, and professionals an affordable, compact RF test tool that could be used in place of multiple expensive pieces of traditional radio test equipment.
Badass that they have partners & support for this epic quest. GSG has proven themselves a dozen times over, no one better for such an absurdly ambitious quest as this!
I have hope the timing is good. We've got a good variety of powerful boards & systems to do this from. We have gotten a decade of decent SDR in public under our belt. It'll be interesting as heck to see where the design goes.
I thought Great Scott Gadgets had a piece with some lamentations about doing their work open source but I can't find it. I am so glad to see such an epic team take such an ambitious crack, in the open like this.

Very exciting! Maybe this will be the thing that finally makes EPC tags accessible without having to buy expensive single purpose hardware just for that.
