East asia can generate a disproprtionate technical talent because they're cramming kids with math science since middle school to build the base for tertiary. IMO just remaking colleges and universities won't be enough.
I took a science major at a large uni. 16+ science/math classes, but there were 20 out of major classes that were required, including 6-8 in the humanities and 4 in the languages. This was in ancient time, and I hope this is still the case. Is it a humanities major, no. But it is "humanities", which were English lit and European History for me.
