Show HN: Generate Student Report Card Comments Using AI and NoCode

2 pointsby bartmikaalmost 2 years ago
Hello HN!
I'm a web-developer whom recently assisted a teacher and education scientist write a NoCode application for generating student comments.
The teacher switched classes in January and had to write report cards for 2 different classes. He looked around for a faster, more accurate way to take the data he had collected on his students and use that to generate report card comments for his students. So he started testing prompt engineering with chat GPT. It was quite impressive, but he still had to do a lot of manual work and he needed to understand some aspects of prompt engineering. Upon reflecting, there was a better way to collect input the data into the LLM, so that's when I came in to assist and using a NoCode solution, we built Reportcard.AI - writing assistant: https://reportcardcomments.online
We've designed a tool that helps streamline the report card writing process, creating a high quality benchmark for the first draft of your comments, so you can focus your precious time and energy on the important parts of the comment. reportcardcomments.online
The purpose of Reportcard.AI is to take the data we have collected on our students, and use the writing assistant to generate well written text output, based on the data collected data, to accurately convey where a student is in their learning.
It writes what we tell it to write.
What it is NOT meant to do: replace the teacher in this process
What it IS meant to do: Get all the prep work out of the way fast to get a teacher to a high-quality comment benchmark, from which they can then focus their attention and effort without worrying about the appropriate qualifiers, gender, pronouns, spelling mistakes. The system is currently loaded with the Ontario curriculum (although it can be used by any province) and understands the qualifiers that are aligned to grade levels. It auto adds ‘Next Steps’.
You can…

• WRITE original comments for each student in a subject • ADD your own subject level comments specific to what you taught • ADD unique comments for each individual student before you generate the comment.

Time commitment

It takes about 10-15 minutes to write 26 high quality subject level comments (for a class of students. Writing a class of Learning Skills comments takes about 30 minutes for an entire class of 26 students.

Let me know what you think? Thank you!
