Most geysers installed in JHB are fitted with a ripple control (a signal over power circuit) to turn them off remotely - not so the case in other parts of the country.<p>We have one major geyser manufacturer - KwikHot and if they planned it could come standard and as these things fail (they hardly last more than 10 years) as they stopped using copper and switched to cheaper materials that rust as the anode decays.<p>I have a solar geyser with a controller that only consumes power when the water temperature is below 55C in the morning and evening times.
