I’m not sure if this is a strategy, but I work about 50-60 hours a week and study as well. To do that without going totally crazy, I have 4 fundamental things I aim to make sure I do everyday which are as follows:
1. Get plenty of sleep, and ensure good sleep hygiene.
2. Exercise regularly (at least 5 times a week - it’s a good idea if you can pick an exercise you really enjoy because that makes it easier to be consistent).
3. Drink plenty of water.
4. Nourish your body with healthy food.
Those things are like my pillars. They don’t make life exceptionally great, but if you don’t take care of basics, you just don’t function as good, and it makes it harder than it needs to be to achieve all the other things.
Then obviously, as a human I have social needs, I kind of like the third space theory. I have a sports club I go to that’s seperate from work and home, and that keeps me sane (I get my social time, and exercise in one hit).
Finally, I absolutely do not procrastinate. Procrastination is an opportunity cost. Whenever I need a break from one task, I switch to another important task that I have to get done. Ie, if I’m researching, I might have a “break” and in that break, I do a household chore, or run an errand, then I get straight back into what I was doing.
