Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like, if we banned the practice of white-labelling products or running a division as a DBA. I think customers (and frankly, legislators asleep at the wheel) would be stunned to discover, for example, that we only have 3-4 major beer companies; or that Pepsi owns everything from Gatorade to Lay's to Doritos to Quaker Oatmeal. There's far less competition than there appears.

I'm pretty gosh darn excited to see the combo their next dram-less gen 4-channel controller (e31t) & newer TLC 3d nands. Faster stacks, bigger PCIe, smaller processes. I'm not sure how much value we really get from dram drives anymore, and simple & fast seems appealing.
E31t: https://www.anandtech.com/show/18879/phison-unveils-ps5031e3...
Sk hynix ram: https://www.anandtech.com/show/18902/sk-hynix-starts-product...

Sabrent drives are OEM Phison ones I think. Look for that unpopulated 0.1" header on the far edge of the NVME drive.

used a phison 2tb nvme on windows 10 for a year before trying a Samsung nvme. Had pitiful performance from the phison (drop to 0MB/s on larger copies) , partly due to Windows no doubt. But the Samsung is so much better. I credit the Samsung controller. so yea, i heard of them ( name is clearly on the controller chip ) and then i bought better.
