Hey HN community!<p>Arno for Duolingo is a platform that helps people prepare for the Duolingo English Test. We provide unlimited practice problems with instant scoring and feedback (powered by GPT4). We currently have practice questions for every question type.<p>It's also currently free! We want to get users and learn how to make it better :)<p>We built Arno because there is a clear lack of solutions to help prepare for the DET. The official practice test provided by Duolingo only gives you one, inaccurate overall score. It doesn’t tell you how you did on each section, nor can you practice individual sections. The result is that people have no clue whether they’re ready to spend the money to take the real exam.<p>On our roadmap are:<p>1. A practice test that gives you accurate estimated scores, for the test overall and each section
2. A personalized learning plan that tracks your progress and recommends different sets of practice questions each day
3. Identifying areas for improvement across answers (for example, you tend to misuse a certain word)<p>The DET is great because it is much cheaper and more convenient than tests like TOEFL and IELTS. Our goal with Arno is to make the DET even more accessible and help people do well on it so that they can win scholarships, study abroad, and take advantage of opportunities to advance themselves.<p>Please give it a try and let us know what you think! The first things we get when we open the website a signup popup. And I can't skip the signup. I don't know what is this and how it works but the website is forcing me to signup. I think this is a poor UX. I should be able to see and test before giving my email which in all likelihood will be used to spam me.
It is an empty page with a box to force you to sign up to continue. Why would anybody give you their e-mail without even knowing what you offer?<p>So far your offering has no value.
I still remembered when Duolingo came out and it is just struggling small startup that wants to succeed in a competitive space. Now even Duolingo English Test, the artificial test they created even became a thing that other people build a product or company to help people prepare for it. Amazing.
