I’m a senior leader with a technical background as an engineer and development manager. I build with React/Rails in my spare time but my current job is not at all technical.
My role is changing at my request to look at ways we as a business could apply AI. It’ll be exploratory, with 2 devs working under me to build prototypes and experiments.
I’m a big believer that a technical manager or leader should understand the technology, with bonus points for being able to build with it.
It’s worth saying that we don’t expect to be creating our own models, rather building on top of others’ using APIs, fine tuning, prompts, vector databases and similar.
There’s lots of good developer focussed learning. I’ll run through the basics there.
However I’d like to learn how businesses are applying AI and am seeking out how best to discover this.
I see MIT Sloan and other institutions have short courses that appear to offer what I’m looking for [1]. I have read that these executive education programs are outsourced, capitalising on the brand name, with content that sometimes doesn’t live up to their pedigree.
Any suggestions about where to look and how to learn about how businesses are applying AI?
[1] https://executive.mit.edu/course/artificial-intelligence/a056g00000URaa3AAD.html#tt-reviews-list
