I'm just a layman who swings a hammer for a living so what do I know, but in my opinion it's 100% completely clear and obvious what's causing this sort of stuff to happen. The shareholder / rent-seeking class is poisoning us with plastics and forever chemicals just so they can acquire more magic capitalism points. The air we breathe, the food we drink, it's all contaminated.

I’m aware of UCSD research suggesting THC suppresses apoptosis [0], but that’s very different than being mutagenic.
0. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30309981
