Ask HN: Instead of finding a Reddit alternative, why not just go to the source?

2 pointsby Raztufalmost 2 years ago
I don't think there is any need to explain what's happening with reddit. Since then I finally managed to leave that every increasingly meaningless timesink. I have replaced the different subreddits I used to consult with blog and news-sites, either directly or via RSS. Which websites do you use eveyday to get general news about your interests ? For me I narrowed it down to:
- Hacker News
- IndieWire
- GameInformer
- Tor.com
- Newsarama
- The Brussels Times
I get the content I wish to be aware of and more while sinking WAY less time scrolling on my phone/computer.

There are many subreddits for which there are no suitable "source".
My personal favorites are r/hmmm and r/youtubehaiku and r/obscuremedia.
Luckily, Reddit makes it extremely easy to subscribe to subreddits via RSS:
[1] http://reddit.com/r/hmmm.rss
