Show HN: I used AI to automate a tech news podcast

2 pointsby justspamjustinalmost 2 years ago
I've always loved reading about all the latest positive innovations in technology. Today our news feeds are filled with so much information, good and bad. Often having very little to no control over our ability to make any impact or change on the negative news. I used to spend a lot of time digging up interesting tech articles that were positive and upbeat, reflecting the progress that humanity is making in so many ways. I would add them to my pocket app and use the text to speech feature to listen to them on my commute. This process was pretty time consuming and with the latest breakthroughs in AI, I knew it could be automated. The result is "Artificial Pulse", a positive tech news podcast that's generated by AI every day. It's not perfect, but it's trained to dig through articles in the past 24 hours and find the most relevant and positive articles related to tech innovations. It's trained to avoid negative and toxic articles. It generates a new episode and automatically publishes it every day.
Here's a list of topics the AI is trained to find articles about: - AI - Robotics - Space - Metaverse - VR/AR - Innovative Transportation - Innovative Construction - Innovative Architecture - Rockets - Apple - Internet Innovations - Physics - Science - Clean Energy Innovations - Climate Progress - Environment
Artificial Pulse uses GPT-3.5 to generate the script and Amazon Polly for text-to-speech. However, I'm hoping in the future to be able to upgrade to use GPT-4 and use much better text-to-speech technology. However, these services are expensive.
