Great blog post. Well done and very straight to the point.
> I believe that the fediverse is a wonderful platform, but it needs to figure out how to market to non tech savvy people if it hopes to break out of its current clique of just being a nerdy platform.
Spot on.
The Fediverse unfortunately has a trade off with an increase of more centralization with companies such as Meta getting involved to come close to the 'adoption' of non tech people coming on board. Unfortunately, they will be more likely to be sitting on Instagram Threads instead.
If they want to do it without Meta getting involved, then they have to solve the 'Choose a server' problem. In the case of Mastodon, there needs be a large centralized default instance which users are signed up to by default which is better for users but which further centralizes Mastodon (and the Fediverse).
