Ask HN: What Modern Alternatives for WebRings are there?

4 pointsby jdsalaroalmost 2 years ago
Hey there HN,
after the debacle with Reddit, Twitter, et al I've decided to stop posting to walled gardens and instead focus on sharing and co-creating with my peers and whoever comes across our stuff.
I remember reading about modern alternatives for WebRings but can't for the life of me find them or remember what they were called! Tiny web? TinyRing? SmallWeb? Does this ring a bell for some of you?
Alternatively, I'd appreciate if you could share ideas and approaches to alternative/indy syndication or agreggation.
Thanks !

I wrote an article regarding both webrings & collectives. Consider checking it out- https://foreverliketh.is/blog/exploring-the-personal-web/

Start your own! Some friends and I did this way back in the Geocities era(well slightly past; I believe we got more serious when we were all self-hosting back in the early aughts). All a web ring is, is a link to the next site, the previous site, and sometimes you'd find an index. But trivial to implement, merely out of vogue.
