It’s nitpicky, but honestly I think the location of search bars in apple-made applications is actually well-thought-out. They’re universally overtop of the thing being filtered.<p>In maps, it’s in the sidebar because that’s where the results list is.<p>In finder, it’s above the files itself, it will search in that directory first and I think the location echos that default.<p>In notes it’s above the note and the notes list, which share a common background colour. It searches within the currently selected notes server in the far-left sidebar.<p>The tool bar is also configurable in most of these. So you can move it anywhere, but the defaults make sense IMO.

I feel like Mac OS 10.3 was the peak of MacOS design, but then again that might just be nostalgia.
