First-gen iPhone sells at auction for almost 380 times its original price

I'm not big into iPhone collecting, but is this what they're actually worth or is it just part of a pump and dump scheme like that $1.5m copy of Super Mario 64 a couple of years back?

Apple stock is up a measly 40x since then. Pathetic.
