I've used Spotify for three years, and am currently on the Student plan. I don't really mind the bump to $5.99 (from $4.99) especially since it includes a Hulu subscription, however I have recently subscribed to Apple One which offers Apple Music and Apple TV+ among other things, and so I've found myself paying for redundant services.
Although I would be open to the idea of switching to Apple Music, I have a number of playlists on Spotify that I would be very reluctant to let go of, and porting them by hand to Apple Music would take hours. Additionally, a lot of my friends are Spotify subscribers (even the ones with Apple devices) and I enjoy following them on Spotify to listen to their playlists as well. It's a mixture of platform lock-in and a social connection.
