It's just amazes me that so many people are in a lather over the "dangers" of AI, when the dangers of biotech are literally several orders of magnitude greater. Bill Joy was right - biotech is by far the most dangerous technology ever developed, and the greatest threat to human survival.
(The dangers of AI running amok are pretty near zero, since almost everything in the world is NOT controllable by networked computers, even today - and there's an easy fix, even if an AI did turn evil and start distributing itself: Just go Glactica on it by going back to dumb/dis/loosely connected systems. It's really almost always a better architecture, anyway, from every point of view but subscription revenue...)
Who was paying for all that? What was the purpose of such an illegal lab to have all those poorly managed equipment, mice, samples, chemicals, and viruses?
