Seems they are digging pretty hard to find a downside to renewables and managed to come up with the Duck curve, which CAISO predicted, analysed and solved over the last decade.<p>I guess mentioning the prior art would have made their pronouncements of doom seem even sillier:<p>&gt; Failing to account for increased cycling stress of the dispatchable thermal fleet is a fundamental flaw in most energy transition models, and must be addressed directly to paint a realistic picture of a resource mix that includes more renewables.<p>Oh that sounds scary, what&#x27;s is the solution? Buy some batteries and phase out fossil fuels even faster while saving even more money? Well that doesn&#x27;t sound too bad when you put it like that.
