I'm looking for a Markdown editor to replace my current editor, Apostraphe. It has a sleek UI, but it hasn't been updated in a year. When I was with a Windows laptop for awhile, I used VSCode, which is pretty good, but more oriented to source code editing.
I've heard of Obsidian, and I heard pretty good stuff about it on HN, but the fact it's based on Electron sort of steers me away from it.
I personally just use GVim (for both code and markdown for my ebooks).
See if https://ghostwriter.kde.org/ (FOSS) helps? Source code is at https://github.com/KDE/ghostwriter (written in C++)
There's a good list of MD editors here:
https://github.com/mundimark/awesome-markdown-editors
