interspecific is one of those words which doesn&#x27;t &quot;look&quot; like it means. Specificity and Species relate of course. I think inter-species might have been more comprehensible but sure, the hyphenated word isn&#x27;t strictly necessary.<p>Octopuses are self aware. I have little doubt they know what they&#x27;re doing in higher senses and very possibly know &quot;more&quot; than the other species they cooperate with.
