Founders are already great at making up personas that aren't quite accurate or don't really exist, but that sound real. This is mostly because of an incomplete understanding of the persona or not talking to users enough. This product could be a good way to get started or even lay out a framework for a potential persona, but the highest value work is in fleshing out these personas by actually talking to users.
Sarah is a middle manager who thrives on the traditional office environment.
She believes that face-to-face interactions and formal presentations are essential for her success.
Sarah feels a lack of relevance and struggles when she's unable to book meetings and ensure that her ideas are heard through PowerPoint slides.
Pains
• Difficulty in capturing attention and conveying her ideas effectively without in-person presentations
• Fear of being overlooked or overshadowed by more adaptable colleagues
Goal
Sarah's ultimate goal is to regain a sense of relevance and control in her role as a middle manager.
Benefits
• Increased visibility and influence within the organization
• Improved ability to capture attention and convey ideas effectively
• Reinforced status as a trusted and valuable middle manager
Sounds about right from what I’ve seen :,)
My "actionable persona" results were from the perspective of my persona, not my product. Mine was a b2b idea, but it gave me actions from the perspective of my customers -- b2c (my customers).
The downside of AI-generated user insights are obvious, but that said, I presented my company's domain to it. The problems, pain points and goals it gave me were spot on.
Seems quite tightly coupled to the inputs, which maybe is good, you get what you want perhaps without the work of writing it out more fully? I'm not the target audience, but I think I expected it would 'add' more, more context/'insight' about the industry than just what I entered with more words. You could practically fit to template without an LLM, just having a 'need to leverage' whatever user says the company does, etc.
Got blank results.
Interesting idea. I’ve had long conversations with ChatGPT about product ideas, but the experience felt more like a sounding board than talking to users.
If something like this works, it could be a game-changer for startups — the ability to “talk to users” before such users exist would empower founders to iterate before building.
This is actually quite good. Definitely better than I expected. Although the output looks obvious, it actually helped me realize that my ideas were disorganized. It did a great job organizing them.
Thanks for publishing it. What are your plans? Are you looking at addressing other needs in the same founder space?
The persona I generated is a Christmas tree light company targeting nuclear physicists. The results were surprisingly cohesive!
However, there is a bug: it seems to insert a newline after every punctuation, including after "Dr." (the persona was "Dr. Thomas").
