CAD is neither programming nor drawing, and it's not like 3D modeling organic shapes.
People think it's way harder and more impressive than it is. But the hobby level doesn't need any special talent.
Want a cube? Draw a square and pad it. That's like extruding or assigning a thickness to something 2D.
Want to make it a bead? click a face, make a sketch on the face, draw a circle, and then use the pocket tool. It takes the sketch and makes it into a 3D open area, the circle becomes a cylinder of empty space.
Click an edge, click fillet, now it's smooth.
All the operations are pretty much like that at the hobby level.
The hard thing is modeling organic shapes. Because first you have to understand what you're modeling and have more than just a vague impressionist picture in your mind. Those guys are impressive!
