Ask HN: Developers, how do you use your iPad?

1 pointsby eiiotover 1 year ago
I just got a used M1 iPad Pro, and I’m trying to find ways to use it for development to have a lighter alternative to my Mac. Are there any solutions that you find work best for getting work done? Is it simply not worth the effort?

Besides all of the apps for web browsing, spreadsheets, word processing, email, etc., I use Blink shell on my iPad all the time to ssh to remote servers. I do most of my programming and system admin work over ssh.<p>With a bit of work you can use VS Code on an iPad to work with code on a remote server, a GitHub repo, a containerized repo.<p>I sometimes take my iPad traveling or to coffee shops to work, leaving my Macbook behind. With the Magic Keyboard it works great for what I do.
