The author should make a coffee table book,, if there is collectors' interest in them and not that much easily-findable information (at least for westerners).
Nowhere did the article fulfill the opening promise of explaining what makes them so great or interesting. It's just a list of names of the variations and where they come from.<p>I was hoping to find out why they have that shape and the "many nuances" of the design.
