Uhm, I might sound stupid, but I just thought that this might be an interesting way of providing an insulation over a curved surface in various micro chambers, such as the hull of a ship with irregular chambers such that a slice in the skin of the craft is minimized in the orthogonal directions from the cut as each chamber both maximizes its usefulness but minimizes its footprint...<p>Further, something like this could be used to route mycelium growth along a path<p>Or if it can be expressed on a small enough scale, telling stemcells the path of expression...<p>Assuming the growth rules are all programmable..
