Ask HN: How do you take breaks, and stay productive?

1 pointsby cloudyporpoiseover 1 year ago
Curious to hear how others are managing the endless DEV backlog and long hours at the computer. I know for myself personally if I do not take breaks and step away from the computer, I suffer from it as neck pain and eventually tension headaches.
I also notice my vision will improve\worsen based on how much time I spend at the computer. Long week with limited outdoor time I notice people's faces seem a little blurrier at a distance. On vacation or spending more time outdoors, things get clearer outside. Anyone else experience the same? What are others doing to help manage long hours sitting\standing in one spot looking directly into the monitor?

Groups of people in my office sometimes go out for 20-minute walks because they are tired of staring at their screens.

Percolate while you take a break. Try to think about the issues you face from a different view. Get a soda and popcorn or whatever and take your 15 minute break.
I got glasses with a coating on them for UV to block monitor glare, ask your eye doctor about them and say you need eye protection from long exposure to computer monitors.
