Maui is way too reliant on tourism. I believe we could support a startup ecosystem here that spans agriculture, finance, tourism, real estate, and wellness.<p>Why couldn't it? Does anyone have any better ideas?
Just seems like more trouble than it's worth. You're disconnected from the contiguous 48 states logistically and physically, located in a unique timezone and isolated from massive talent pools. I don't think the advantages of being on an island will necessarily sweeten the deal, but then again I've never been to Maui.
