[Title] Do y'alls think it's a bit too excessive. We're experimenting and coming with a lot of things at the same amount. Dalle-2, Midjourney, Stability, ChatGPT . . . more and more coming out. I don't know what to make of this, sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming. At the same time, people start saying these GenAI will replace this, that etc. etc.
How much of it will actually hold true.
If it is overwhelming for you that are thinking about it, imagine what going to be the result of not even paying attention to AI yet? You are far ahead of the curve so if you keep learning about it and making use of those tools now that is still early stage you will probably get a good position for you in this brave new world. Isn't this exciting?
It resembles the big data technology wave of roughly 10 years ago, when we had a plethora of players in the space, all offering relatively immature technologies for storing, moving and processing data at scale.
The difficulty now, as back then, is landing on the technology complement that proves the most technically no-nonsese and financially viable in the long run.
I feel as follows:
- You are standing on a basketball court, on your own ...
- 3 guys enter the court with very big buckets ... filled with ping pong balls ... (each pin pong ball represents a new AI idea)
- They empty them towards you
- (and your task was to hit ONE ping pong ball ; that's the one you will work on)
Good luck ... ;)
Bart
