One cool thing about this guy is that he was riding a train as a young man and happened to make a good impression on another passenger. The other passenger was a manager at an oil company and was offered a job.
Mr Benedim was clearly a religious man it appears that his generosity of spirit was thoughtful and profound. Some of my wife’s extended family are quite wealthy (her branch of the family missed the boat) and while expressing great religiosity are actually selfish and somewhat shallow. I just endured a lecture from one at my uncle’s memorial.<p>I’ve found that such thoughtful and generous people can come from all walks of life, from all stations of class, and different religions. I believe this kind of spirit is mostly a genetic predisposition - and I’d sure like to see more of such people. They are the foundation of a healthy family and a healthy republic.
