Hey folks. I don't know how - but I did it...
It all started with the 100 days of code challenge where I started working on an Open Source AI project that I felt had a lot of potential. However upon reaching the 100 day goal, the project was nowhere complete and I decided to take it further and kept working on it until I achieved the 365 days of code challenge.
After releasing that project, I had so many more ideas for new projects that I simply had to keep going!
Today, it has been over 4 years and the streak is still going!!!!!!
The amount of things I have learned in all this time is absolutely mind blowing and I could write more than one book about the journey.
Most interestingly, this is an endeavour I took on outside of my professional career and it has always remained as hobby/passion of mine. So yes, I have been coding every single day after work, the weekends and the holidays. When I leave the house, as well as making sure I have my keys, wallet and phone, I need to also remember the laptop in-case I do not return in time and need to do some coding whilst I am away.
I'm not going to lie, keeping it going is both mentally and physically challenging as there has pretty much been no down-time in my life for the past 4 years... What has kept me going is that this passion fuels my hunger to write code and the feeling of knowing that there is someone on the other side of the globe that uses my apps and finds them useful is enough to warm my heart and keep me motivated to make those commits.
I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep the streak, but you are more than welcome to follow me on GitHub:
https://github.com/OvidijusParsiunas
