Ask HN: How soon until tech giants use altered family/friends photos in ads?

I had this idea when I saw someone in an ad who strangely resembled my younger mother. I couldn&#x27;t screenshot and verify because the ad disappeared.<p>That&#x27;s when I wondered if Google or another entity might be using the photos we provide to generate AI-generated images resembling our loved ones. It sounds sinister but not impossible.<p>If I thought of it, others likely have or will soon.

They are not that stupid. Things like that emerge more from the margins. If it became reasonably acceptable, then they would move to dominate.
