The wiki editor of On-line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS) rants in the weirdest of places.<p>[Incidentally, today these cards are sometimes referred to as &quot;punch cards&quot; (sic). This is wrong, they were always called &quot;punched cards&quot;. Anyone who says &quot;punch cards&quot; is showing they know nothing about the subject. Saying &quot;punch cards&quot; is like saying &quot;hike boots&quot; or &quot;walk stick&quot; or &quot;chew gum&quot;.]

In Canada it is (well, was) perfectly fine to call them &quot;punch cards&quot;. See the UWaterloo user&#x27;s reply as an example. I don&#x27;t see what the big deal is.
