Using KDE5 X11 as I'm typing this, wayland is actually starting to look like an upgrade rather than a downgrade now that they have things like HDR.
Hopefully we'll also get things like querying global mouse position and reading global key states (with the necessary popups about the safety of these things)
This is great but it's not clear to me from the article to which Plasma version these fixes and updates are for, 6.0 or 5.27.10, or both, as the article mentions both.
I'm asking because I'd like to give KDE with these latest changes a spin in a VM, since last time when I tried Kubuntu I saw some annoying UI glitches so maybe those are fixed but there's no mention on the blog how to get their latest changes to try them out.
Maybe Arch or Tumbleweed?
i have been running wayland on plasma neon Operating System: KDE neon 5.27
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.111.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11
Kernel Version: 6.2.0-36-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
for quite some time now and it is pretty nice actually. (i daily drive it 9 hours a day)
1. simplescreenrecorder does not work which breaks my heart.
2. spectacle screen recording crashes the system pretty quickly.
3. from 1 year ago, wayland works super reliably now.
4. kde connect has "issues" on wayland like videos dont pause or notifications pile up after a call
5. everything i can do on x11 i can do on wayland (simplescreenrecorder excluding)
6. i am an old time neon user and the move to wayland was progessively better for me.
7. i have not tried multi monitor so can't say for sure.
8. overall i am very happy with the way kde and plasma neon is going.
