Ask HN: How is AWS OpenSearch vs. Elasticsearch playing out?

3 pointsby goldinfraover 1 year ago
Curious if other more informed people know what's going on with AWS's OpenSearch fork of Elasticsearch?
Is AWS doing a good job? Should people outside of the AWS ecosystem be using OpenSearch? Has Elasticsearch become more proprietary as a result of their license change?
Also curious if people are happy moving to completely alternative open source search engine solutions.

I'm wondering the same.
Here's a link to a "pro" argument from 6 months ago:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35909918
Edit:
A high-level overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62u30TO-OsA
Currently I lean towards Elasticsearch, because it fits our use cases better than OpenSearch.
