It's actually incredible what it will do for your mood to wander in search of nothing in particular except the avoidance of your own routine.<p>I was feeling utterly miserable the other week. I went for one of my usual walks, but on a whim I decided instead of walking my usual path, I'd wander up to a park I'd been to once before. It wasn't even somewhere new, just somewhere I hadn't been too many times, or too recently, and the osychological effect it had was pronounced and immediate.<p>My mood was lifted, I felt a sudden influx of creativity, I even felt physically energised in the most physiological sense. This feeling lasted multiple days.<p>Just walk down some suburban streets even. If you're lucky to live in a slightly better area, you'll probably eventually stumble on some half-hidden cafe or something. Sit down and try the coffee, then keep walking. Low commitment, novelty, and a newfound sense of the limitlessness of the soace you have access to.
