This article talks a lot about what the salaryman gives to the company (ie 60h a week) but not what the company does. A salaryman is usually set for life. And his company will help him with everything: finding housing, medical expenses, legal issues, etc.<p>Not saying it makes the crazy work culture good, just that what look in the west as crazy over commitment goes both ways.
