As the year nears an end I think it would be nice to celebrate how everyone has in some way impacted the world. Big or small, I want to shine some light on how you've made a mark this year.
As a Street Roots Vendor (Portland, OR), getting The Miracle On Hippie Hill published in the Street Roots Holiday Zine is my key accomplishment.
A brother of several years was drinking a gallon of vodka a day early in our relationship. Had to drink in the middle of the night to get back to sleep.
I told him then (2017) of the research from 2010 that psilocybin cures alcoholism (and prevents suicide and relieves depression). He talked to the guy selling shrooms and three months later he “didn’t need” his bottle anymore. > I went back six months later and he had a job that paid for an apartment in •San Francisco• and had a girlfriend, all because the bottle lifted off his head.
At the end I pointed to research that says sensory deprivation produces similar results without ingesting anything…things like spelunking, float tanks…
Even though I’m not a “believer” in religion, I’m planning on going to churches and talking with pastors about how this sounds a lot like “going in the prayer closet to talk to god.”
Maybe we can heal the rift of the sixties by focusing on healing addiction, trauma and depression from all theological and non-theological perspectives.
