NHS England picked the last working day before Christmas to publish a heavily redacted contract for the controversial Federated Data Platform, which it awarded to US spy-tech firm Palantir in November.
Every molecule of this release reeks of exceptional reluctance to notify the public of what's being deployed against the public. While being paid for with public funds.
Filed under: If You Have Nothing To Hide...
As an ex NHSE employee it really makes me sad to see the NHS scapegoated all the time.
In my time there I met a lot of clever people, even more so now Digital have been merged in - it’s a shame because the majority of malice and incompetence come from the top down, i.e. the Cabinet Office, DHSC (UKHSA). Internal projects get taken over by the likes of Accenture at massive cost, or asinine decisions get made multiple levels higher than they should be.
Also shout out to whoever got Palantir contracts approved with no competitive process. Trying to spend anything over about £10k was an 12 month long exercise in frustration for us mere mortals.
